I've had a few requests for the letter I sent with my Journal gift. (Jean Tanner is a local high-producing Realtor)
Dear Realtor,
Last month, I had the privilege of hearing Jean Tanner share a few of her success secrets and the one that impressed me the most was how she uses a business journal. I was inspired to start my own and want to share this idea with you.
Years ago, as I was starting my origination business, I read Brian Tracy’s Focal Point and the impact was huge. Tracy states, “Three percent of adults actually put their goals into writing. The other 97 percent have wishes, hopes, and fantasies. Written goals release powers within you that would have lain dormant in their absence.” You can use your journal for goals, business planning, idea or simply your daily thoughts.
Benefits of business journaling:
- Writing slows down your thinking and opens your mind to new ideas. We are so busy multi-tasking that we often don’t take the time to feel inspired.
- Builds self-trust and helps you move from idea to action.
- Helps you focus on the most important things.
- Learn from your mistakes.
- Envision your future. Where do you want to be in 5 years, 10 years etc.
- Track your progress. Pat yourself on the back when you get things done.
- Explore your thoughts, ask questions and ponder.
- Record your life. Make note of the good, the bad and the ugly.
- Helps you problem-solve
Why write by hand? Studies have proven that writing by hand improves memory, cognitive ability and goal achievement. I spend a few minutes each morning writing, large tasks for the day, my weekly, monthly and annual production goals and any new thoughts or ideas. I also pose questions to myself and let my mind start working on solutions. I write down struggles and triumphs. That might sound like a lot, but it is less than a page each day and I have found it to be a great tool in my business.
I hope you holidays are bright and your 2016 is even brighter. Please let me know what I can do to help you or your next client.
